Contemporary Stone & Oak Bathroom Renovation in Manchester

For this Manchester bathroom renovation, we combined natural stone-effect tiling, warm oak furniture and brushed bronze fittings to create a bathroom that feels modern without losing warmth. The design includes a full-size bath with overhead shower, illuminated storage niche, concealed-cistern WC and coordinated timber bathroom furniture.

Project Brief

This project required more than simply replacing the bathroom fittings. The room needed to be planned around the existing window, doorway and available wall space while still providing a bath, shower, WC, basin and useful storage.

The aim was to create a more refined bathroom with better storage and a stronger sense of design, while keeping the layout practical for everyday use.

Planning & Design

We built the new scheme around a stone-and-timber colour palette. Grey natural-stone-effect tiles provide the main backdrop, while the fluted oak cabinetry and warm metallic fittings soften the overall appearance.

Careful attention was also given to the bath area, concealed WC housing, recessed shower storage, and positioning of the tall cabinet so the room remains open and uncluttered.

What we did for this project

Natural Stone-Effect Wall & Floor Tiling

The bathroom was finished with large grey stone-effect tiles across the walls and floor. Different tile formats were used to give the surfaces more visual interest while maintaining one consistent finish throughout the room.

Bath & Overhead Shower

A full-size white bath was installed with a fixed glass shower screen, giving the client the flexibility of both a bath and a shower without requiring two separate areas.

Brushed Bronze Rainfall Shower

Instead of standard chrome, this project uses a warm brushed bronze shower system with a large round rainfall head and matching handheld shower.

Illuminated Recessed Niche

We created a wide recessed shelf within the bath and shower wall and added warm integrated lighting. It provides practical storage for toiletries while also becoming one of the main design features of the bathroom.

Fluted Oak Vanity Unit

A wall-mounted ribbed oak vanity unit was fitted beneath the basin, introducing natural warmth and useful concealed storage without making the room feel heavy.

Matching Tall Storage Cabinet

The same fluted timber finish was carried through to a tall wall-mounted storage cabinet, giving the bathroom additional storage while keeping the floor area clear.

Concealed-Cistern WC

A contemporary WC was paired with a timber-effect concealed cistern housing, allowing the toilet area to coordinate with the other furniture instead of appearing as a separate element.

Brushed Bronze Heated Towel Rail

A large heated towel rail in a warm bronze finish was installed beside the bath, matching the shower fittings and reinforcing the bathroom’s overall colour scheme.

The Finished Result

What makes this bathroom stand out is the balance between cool stone surfaces and warm natural finishes.

The grey tiles provide a clean architectural backdrop, while the oak cabinetry, bronze fittings, and illuminated niche introduce warmth and character. Storage has been incorporated without overcrowding the room, and the bath-and-shower arrangement keeps the bathroom practical for everyday family use.

The result is a contemporary bathroom that feels considered and cohesive rather than simply fitted with new sanitaryware.
