White Marble-Effect Bathroom Renovation in Manchester

This bathroom was finished with a much brighter and cleaner scheme, combining white marble-effect tiling, black furniture and simple chrome fittings. Rather than using a dark feature wall, this project keeps the room light throughout and uses black details around the bath, vanity and radiator to create contrast.

Before the Renovation

The bathroom needed a complete refresh to give it a more modern and coordinated appearance. The aim was to create an easy-to-maintain family bathroom while making better use of the existing bath layout and natural light from the window.

Planning & Preparation

For this renovation, we worked around the existing room shape and kept the layout practical. A light tile finish was chosen for both the walls and floor, while darker bathroom furniture was introduced to stop the room from feeling too plain.

The result is a simple black-and-white design with warm marble veining running throughout.

What we did for this project

Marble-Effect Wall Tiling

The walls were finished with gloss white marble-effect tiles featuring soft grey and warm beige veining. They were laid in a staggered pattern, giving the walls more movement than a standard straight tile layout.

Large Format Floor Tiles

Large marble-effect floor tiles were installed to continue the same light finish across the room. Using fewer grout lines also gives the floor a cleaner appearance.

New Bath & Black Bath Panel

A new white bath was fitted with a dark wood-effect bath panel, creating a strong contrast against the surrounding white tiles.

Glass Bath Screen

The old electric shower was replaced with a brushed gold rainfall shower system, including a large overhead shower and handheld attachment.

Glass Bath Screen

A clear glass screen was installed beside the bath instead of a traditional shower curtain, helping the bathroom feel more open.

Compact Vanity & Basin

The pedestal basin was replaced with a white vanity unit and integrated basin, adding useful storage while keeping the footprint compact.

Mirrored Storage Cabinet

A wall-mounted mirrored cabinet was added above the basin, providing additional storage without taking up floor space.

Gold Basin Fittings

A brushed gold mixer tap and coordinating cabinet details were used around the vanity to continue the metallic theme.

Brushed Gold Heated Towel Rail

The bathroom was finished with a tall gold-toned heated towel rail, providing both heating and a decorative feature against the white marble tiles.

The Finished Result

What works particularly well in this project is the balance between the light marble-effect surfaces and the black bathroom details. The pale tiles reflect natural light from the window and make the room feel brighter, while the black vanity, bath panel and towel radiator provide enough contrast to give the bathroom a more defined modern style.
